FAQ

Do smoke alarms need to be installed in every bedroom?

Not at the present time, however, it's highly recommended if you want to be completely prepared in case of fire. From January 1st 2027, it will be compulsory to have smoke alarms installed in every bedroom of your home.

Do my smoke alarms need to be photoelectric?

Yes, they do. In accordance with the Fire and Emergency Services (Domestic Smoke Alarms) Amendment Act 2016, all ionised smoke alarms must be replaced with interconnected, photoelectric smoke alarms.

What battery do I need for my smoke alarm?

All smoke detectors must be powered by either a 10-year lithium battery or 240-volt hardwired. These should always be replaced before their expiry date.

When should the smoke alarms be tested in relation to a tenancy change or renewal?

It is the owner's responsibility to have smoke alarms tested and cleaned within 30 days of a tenant renewal or changeover.

Do your smoke alarms come with a warranty?

Absolutely. All smoke detectors installed or replaced by our team come with a 5-year warranty.
